How to fix error ERROR_DEVICE_IN_USE?

If you try to disconnect from the network installed in Windows Networking, you may receive an error message ERROR_DEVICE_IN_USE. The reason is that the network device is currently being used by the active process and can not perform a shutdown due to the different priorities of the tasks.

To solve the problem, perform the following:

• make sure that all network processes are completed;
• check that the network device is responding to your requests, and if it is not, then it should be turned off;
• make sure that you have sufficient rights to complete the network session.
