How to fix startup/menu crash «re7.exe has stopped working» on Resident Evil 7: Biohazard?
I’ve been struggling with this for a few hours but now fixed. My first load up allowed me to set brightness, adjust graphical options in menu. As soon as I started the game however «re7.exe has stopped working» on Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Now every time I would start the game, this error would appear right after “searching for downloadable content” appears. I tried verifying game cache and full reinstalling 3 times.
How to fix?
Uninstall any Windows Media codec packs that you’ve downloaded! Check control panel/programmes and features. I had Windows Media Player Codec pack and classic media player (I downloaded these last week to fix some video crashes I was having from game recordings).
As soon as I unistalled this, the game is starting up and playing just fine. The crash is occuring when the intro video attempts to play.
