How to fix low FPS and stutters in The Callisto Protocol?

The Callisto Protocol has been a problematic release, at least on PC. The horror lags even on top machines, which is why many reviewers and first players give it unsatisfactory scores. Even KRAFTON’s stock price has plummeted!

But you can always do a series of standard manipulations and fix The Callisto Protocol to make it stop lagging. There are several ways.

  • Reduce the graphics settings. If you’re not playing on the top-of-the-line PC, it’s better not to chase the beauty and put on a stable FPS. This also includes RTX and other advanced technologies.
  • Experiment with FSR 2.0. AMD’s DLSS analog allows you to adjust your performance level. This usually shifts your PC’s resource balance, either toward juicy graphics or an extra amount of FPS. Try playing around with different settings options – in the latest Modern Warfare, for example, it helps.
  • Update your video card drivers. This is a common problem when a new game comes out. Usually they roll out an update that will ensure a smooth picture.
  • If you’re playing on a laptop, turn on the performance mode in the power settings. The factory settings on laptops usually emphasize a balance between performance and power consumption levels. Set all settings to performance mode, and don’t forget to plug in the power cord – otherwise the machine will go down quickly.

Rejoice, because the first optimization patches for the game have already been released. The game still needs to be improved, but the developers are moving in the right direction. Let’s hope the day will come when The Callisto Protocol will run at least reasonably well on most machines. The Callisto Protocol was released on December 2, 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
