World of Tanks Patch 9.17.1 – Known issues – Common problems and solutions

1. The battle hangs at the Matchmaker screen

Solution:

1. Go to the game install folder.
   • Default: C:\Games\World_of_Tanks
2. Go to res folder.
3. Delete scripts folder.
4. Optional – Integrity check
   • Run game launcher and click on Settings > Support.
   • Select Preform integrity check.

2. Type 5 Heavy

Some players may be unable to disable Accelerated Crew Training and also be unable to research the second gununless they will use free EXP.

3. Incorrect aspect ratio

Some players may have trouble with the automatically selected Aspect Ratio

Temporary Solution:

1. Press Windows key + R and type %appdata%\wargaming.net
2. In World of Tanks folder, find preferences and edit it with notepad.
3. Find line: <aspectRatio_override> -1.000000 </aspectRatio_override>
4. Change -1.000000 for:
   • 1.333333 (4:3 aspect ratio)
   • 1.600000 (16:10)
   • 1.777778 (16:9)

4. Game always starts in windowed mode

Temporary Solution:

• Use windowed borderless mode.

5. Game switches from full screen mode to windowed mode after Alt-tabbing

Temporary Solution:

• Use windowed borderless mode.

Common Problems and Solutions

I am missing Equipment

Equipment going missing after a patch mostly relates to:

• Camouflage Net
• Binocular Telescope
• Toolbox

From our experience, this is caused by:

• Garage mods misplacing or creating the illusion that you had more Equipment.
• You or someone else with access to your account, moved or sold Equipment.

The game settings or the cache are corrupted

Please delete the game cache (this will reset game settings):

1. Press Win+R
2. Type “%appdata%\wargaming.net”
3. Delete the World of Tanks folder

The graphics driver is outdated

Please make sure your graphic drivers are up to date.

NVIDIA

• GeForce 400 Series and newer – 376.33
• GeForce 200 Series and older (released in 2009 or earlier) – 342.01

AMD

• RX 470/480 – known crash issues under investigation; driver Crimson Edition 16.11.5 Hotfix seems to have brought some stability improvements.
• Radeon HD 7700-7900 Series, R5 240, R5 300, R7 200+, R9 200+ – Crimson Relive 17.1.1
• Radeon HD 5000-7600 Series – Catalyst 15.7.1
• Radeon HD 2000-4000 Series – Catalyst 13.9 (WinVista/7), Catalyst 14.4 (WinXP)

Mods

Mods and specially old mods, can cause lots of trouble.

Check this article to start the game in Safe Mode (without mods) and make sure all your mods are up to date.
