Can you see how warm clothing is before purchasing?

Now that temps got much colder I wanted to buy a warm that’s fit for winter. When browsing in stores you can’t see how warm the item is, can you? That resulted in buying two different coats and my character is still freezing, so my money was wasted. How do you know the clothes you’re buying are fit for winter? The two coats I bought actually look pretty warm…
