How to remove error 0x00000505 when working with a printer?

The problem appeared after I upgraded to Windows 11. To be more precise, everything worked well on it too, but the “ten” seemed more familiar to me and decided to return to it. That’s when the printing error with the code 0x00000505 began to appear. Moreover, with some settings, everything seems to be fine, but I can’t print some documents, no matter how much I try. Any ideas? All the most banal, what I could think of, I have already done.

Solution

Hello! The problem is that the operating system was unable to change all the content after downgrading to a previous version of Windows. There is one simple and effective solution. Runs in a couple of minutes and works for most of those who encounter error 0x00000505.

What should be done:

  1. We restart the computer and enter safe mode (I think you know how to do this).
  2. Go to the folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\drivers\x64 and delete all its contents.
  3. Add the printer again. This time it should work fine.
