KB5020044 not installing on Windows 11
While installing update KB5020044 for Windows 11, error 0x8007371 appeared. I couldn’t find anything useful on the web on this subject, so I decided to ask for help here. Maybe someone has already tried to install this update and came across the same error. Until recently everything was updating without any issues, no errors. However, I just recently installed Windows 11, so I haven’t installed that many updates.
Solution
You can install KB5020044 on Windows 11 without the Windows Update, so you don’t have to worry. As for the error 0x8007371 – it is a typical “disease” of the WU, which is treated with quite standard solutions.
- Reboot your computer. The most banal but nevertheless effective solution. Simply reboot your PC and check if the problem has been resolved in the Windows Update.
- WU troubleshooter. Run the built-in troubleshooter through System Preferences (under “Update and Security”).
- Restore system files. Press WIN+S and type “Command Prompt” into the search box. Click RMB on the found inquiry and select “Run as administrator”. Next, type the command SFC /SCANNOW into the console and press ENTER. Wait for the scan to finish and for the potential recovery of system files. Reboot your PC and check for the problem.
If none of the above steps helped you to revive WU, we recommend not to waste your time anymore and download KB5020044 update directly from Microsoft Update Catalog.
