Steamxbox.sys causes blue screen of death (BSoD)

Reinstalling DS4Windows and Steam usually does not help with frequent BSoDs. It is worth noting that the situation is extremely unusual, because many people have used both software for many years – there were no problems.

Fortunately, a solution was found – Autoruns from Microsoft. This program will help you find the failed steamxbox.sys driver and disable it.

1. Manually create a Windows restore point (just in case).
2. Run Autoruns.exe as administrator.
3. Go to the “Drivers” tab.
4. Enter in the line “Filter” (filter, find) the value “steamxbox”.
5. Uncheck the box next to the found driver.
6. Close Autoruns.

After these simple manipulations, the frequent blue screens of death with steamxbox.sys should disappear.
